Born to missionary parents, Mary spent a portion of her childhood in West Africa.
As a young adult in the US in 1976, she began studying Art and Architecture at Louisiana Tech University and continued study at the Atlanta School of Art upon moving to Atlanta with her husband.
In 1999, after the raising of their children, she began painting portraits as a profession in Lafayette, Louisiana where they now reside.
Some of her work has been exhibited at The Zigler Art Museum and featured in local publications.
She is currently represented by a national portrait broker as well as doing independent commissions.
